Cookie Notice
Which cookies this site sets, what each one does, and how to turn them off.
This is a portfolio demonstration site. The policies below are written to real UK conventions and are structurally complete, but they describe a fictional company and are not legal advice.
1. The short version
formegoods.co.uk sets one strictly necessary cookie and nothing else until you tell us otherwise. We do not use advertising cookies, we do not sell data to advertisers, and nothing on this site tracks you across other websites.
2. What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store. It lets a site remember something between page loads — that you have dismissed a banner, for example, or what is in your basket. Similar technologies such as local storage and pixels work the same way in law, and we treat them the same way here.
3. Cookies we set
Strictly necessary. A session cookie that keeps the site working — remembering the contents of your basket and your place in checkout. It expires when you close your browser. Under regulation 6(4) of PECR this cookie does not require consent, because without it the service you asked for cannot be provided.
Preferences. If you dismiss the cookie banner we store that choice for 12 months so we do not ask again on every page.
Analytics. We use a privacy-first, cookieless analytics tool that counts page views without setting a cookie, without an identifier and without collecting an IP address we can trace back to you. If we ever switch to a tool that does set a cookie, we will ask for your consent first.
4. Cookies we do not set
No advertising or retargeting cookies. No social media tracking pixels. No cross-site identifiers, fingerprinting or data brokers. If a third-party embed — a map or a video — ever appears on a page, it is loaded only after you click to load it.
5. Managing cookies
You can delete or block cookies through your browser settings. In Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies. In Safari: Settings → Privacy. In Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security. In Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions. Blocking the strictly necessary cookie will stop parts of this site working, which is the trade-off.
